    About The Opportunity:


    The successful candidate will be responsible for product life cycle management for the ROV and Sensors portfolio within the EOD/ROV product line. The PLM sets direction and provides guidance to other functional groups to effectively manage product life cycles from concept through to obsolescence.


    The Product Line Manager will be responsible for translating emerging/evolving market requirements into business cases and specifications for new products and customization initiatives.



    This role is defined by a broad range of operational and tactical responsibilities requiring active stakeholder involvement in the Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Supply Chain, and Customer Support processes.



    Duties & Responsibilities:

    The Product Manager Line Manager responsibilities include:

    • Works collaboratively with Med-Eng’s strategic ROV supply chain partner to manage the current portfolio of ROV platforms: the newly released Avenger, the Defender and the Digital Vanguard;
    • Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to oversee the development and management of approved product development roadmaps, including feature upgrades, accessories, tools, spare parts, new services, and integrations with 3rd party equipment;
    • Develops strategies to integrate complex 3rd party sensor systems including chemical/biological/radiological detectors and X-Ray systems with the ROV platforms;
    • Provides market-driven strategic direction to the R&D team to help guide internal research activities and targeted pursuit of externally-funded research programs;
    • Devises life-cycle strategies for the entire product portfolio: new product launches, mid-life upgrades, cost reduction initiatives, product customizations (NSCR), and obsolescence plans;
    • Prepares business cases and market launch plans to champion new projects/products;
    • Conducts market research and competitive analysis in order to guide strategic product development and marketing direction;
    • Manages the development of strategies/tactics related to product positioning, product packaging and pricing, and participates actively in the establishment of sales channel/distribution strategies;
    • Develops effective sales support programs and competitive tools, including training programs, competitive analysis reports, and technical marketing collaterals;
    • Gathers in-depth understanding of market and user requirements to assist in the development of functional requirements for new products and product enhancements;
    • Contributes to the development and improvement of Sales, Operations, and Product Development departments’ systems and processes;
    • Stakeholder in inventory setting policies; establishing finished goods inventory levels based on sales forecasts, monitoring performance against plan, and implementing corrective actions;
    • Reviews S&OP analysis to prepare ROV equipment and accessory requirements to fulfill Med-Eng’s contractual quarterly supply chain obligations;
    • Researches and hosts monthly Strategic Market Reviews with internal and external stakeholders to guide territory-specific marketing strategies;
    • Provides product line input to the Med-Eng Strategic Planning process and the Operating Planning process;
    • Represents the Med-Eng product line externally by participating in relevant trade shows conferences, and other client engagements;
    • Develops technical and commercial responses to RFPs, RFIs, and other client inquiries;
    • Provides Product Line Director and other Product Line Managers with weekly status updates on active tasks & goals;
    • Provides the Product Line Director with monthly 1:1 goals and objectives reports;
    • Provides relevant management updates in support of Med-Eng monthly business review activitie;s
    • Develops in-depth knowledge of ROV and Sensor products/technologies in order to serve as SME within the Med-Eng product line;
    • Develops a working knowledge of Med-Eng’s other product lines in order to support other PLMs and effectively represent the entire product line at trade shows and other events;
    • Works collaboratively with the product line team to achieve corporate goals;
    • Develops new ideas and actively participates in the implementation of product, process, and cultural improvement initiatives at Med-Eng.


    Hiring requirements:

    • University education with a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree or a suitable combination of academic qualifications and relevant experience/skills. Given the technical nature of Med-Eng’s products, a degree in a technical field such as Mechanical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or prior experience in the development of robotic systems will be considered an asset.      
    • Given the commercial requirements of the role, an MBA will be considered an asset.
    • Minimum 7 years of relevant practical experience in marketing, sales and product management, preferably with an international focus.
    • Program or Project Leadership Experience with Government Military Projects (and operational experience).
    • Minimum 5-7 years of experience supervising multiple technical projects and products.
    • Demonstrated experience preparing successful bid submissions for military or other government clients
    • Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
    • Strong project management skills in a technical environment.
    • Ability to work independently, often under pressure and against tight deadlines.
    • Willingness to work occasional overtime to support urgent business activities
    • Strong analytical skills and sound business judgment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated expertise in negotiating, preparing business cases, proposals, and contractual agreements.
    • Verbal and written proficiency in English is essential.
    • Ability to operate in international cultures, attitudes and environments.
    • Willingness to travel within Canada and internationally (<10%)
